About Me

I raised rabbits years ago.  I met some amazing people, fantastic bunnies, and overall enjoyed it immensely. My life changed dramatically, and the bunnies stayed and I went. I didn't think about it for years, really...

And then I saw him. He was sitting apart from all the others and just an irresistible little poof. I took him home and in a few days, he reminded me how much I love bunnies. His sweet nature, playfulness, and affection was exactly what I needed in my life. His name is Bunadict Cumberbatch and he's FFR's mascot of sorts. He's not part of the program, but he's our Morale Officer, our treat tester, our toy inspector, and so much more.

Bunadict was a life changer. He made me want to learn more and to share his spark.  He came to me after I had significant disease progression that dramatically changed my day-to-day life. Overall, my life seemed very dark. He reminded me there is sunshine and I hope my bunnies bring sunshine to their families, too!

A note about the name:
I know foxglove is lethal because of its cardiac glycosides and digitalis. I have a cardiac condition that's untreatable and potentially lethal, too. Ethically breeding and raising rabbits is part of my mental, physical, and emotional investment in myself. I put the two together to remind myself to find the sunshine, to not let the small chance of an early death be my total picture all day, every day. It's not morbid for me at all. It makes sense to have both together because both CAN be my reality. So yes, I know foxglove is lethal to animals and people, just like my cardiac condition can be, but neither are just by merely existing. I put bunnies in my foxglove fields to reminds me there's more around me than impending death - there's binkies and beauty, too.
